Fast Ghost

The violin lends itself perfectly to rock music. My brother Tjeerd Top (concertmaster of the Concertgebouw Orchestra) demonstrates how, and asked me to compose a short and to-the-point work for violin solo, that navigates between heavy rock and the devilish violin virtuoso tradition it is based on. Parallel-fifth riffing of power chords flows seamlessly into glissadoing flautando arpeggiandos.
