Bound by Bach was composed for flutist Mark McGregor and keyboardist Chris Bagan.
The very postmodern tongue-in cheek work makes ironic use of a two-part inventio I composed in the style of Bach. It also (ab)uses the piccolo for ‘beatboxing’: B, Ts, K, Ts – beatboxing: “Booh, Tseh, Kæh, Tseh”.
The premiere took place on March 20, 2012 in the Music on Main series at The Cellar in Vancouver.
