‘Who digs deeper’ is inspired by a poem of Hester Knibbe based on the lowest location in The Netherlands which is 6.75 m below sea level. Composed for the project Rotterdam is Many Places, Cultural Capital 2001 it is recorded on the CD ‘Captured images’, published by Beta Imaginations, Rotterdam 2000.

The score is a graphical representation (see below) of the art work Vierkant eiland in de plas (Square Island in the Pond) by Frans de Wit.

The work is a mirror canon, i.e. the score is read both normally and upside down in retrograde. Also the third movement of Lied der Schwermut, which als has a graphic score.
